Fire-retardant honeycomb panels

Fire-retardant honeycomb cores for sandwich panels requiring fire performance

To meet fire-reaction requirements in the building, railway and technical equipment sectors, Nidaplast has developed Nidaplast 8FR (Fire Retardant).
This polypropylene honeycomb core incorporates halogen-free fire-retardant additives, limiting flame propagation while maintaining the lightweight and rigidity typical of Nidaplast sandwich structures.

Compatible with lamination, adhesive bonding and infusion, Nidaplast 8FR enables the production of fire-retardant sandwich panels that comply with current standards.
The product achieves a B2 fire classification according to DIN 4102-1, and finished panels can reach various performance levels depending on the configuration:
• EN 45545 for railway applications
• EN 13501 for building applications

Technical summary — Nidaplast 8FR

Nidaplast 8FR is an extruded polypropylene honeycomb core developed by Nidaplast, a French manufacturer (Hauts-de-France, established in 1984), for the production of sandwich panels that must meet fire-reaction requirements. The material incorporates halogen-free fire-retardant additives. Key characteristics: density of 65 kg/m³, surface mass of 1.5 kg/m² for a 20 mm panel, compressive strength of 1.2 MPa. Core fire classification: B2 according to DIN 4102-1. Finished sandwich panels incorporating Nidaplast 8FR can achieve additional classifications under EN 45545 (railway sector) and EN 13501-1 (building sector). Nidaplast 8FR is compatible with lamination, adhesive bonding and infusion processes, for the production of lightweight, rigid composite panels used in construction, railway, marine and industrial applications.
