Honeycomb panels for bonding
Honeycomb cores for bonding of facings and sandwich panel manufacturing
Bonding is a simple and efficient solution for manufacturing lightweight and rigid sandwich panels.
Nidaplast honeycomb cores are specifically designed to act as adhesive-ready support layers for bonding a wide variety of facings: aluminium, wood, laminate, stone, metal or composite materials.
Their nonwoven surface layer ensures uniform adhesion with the most common structural adhesives — epoxy, polyurethane, MS polymer, hotmelt or neoprene — depending on the mechanical requirements of the finished panel.
Combined with rigid skins, the honeycomb core enables the production of lightweight, stable and high-performance sandwich structures, meeting the needs of construction, architecture, transport, marine and industrial applications.
Thanks to their compatibility with both manual and industrial bonding processes, Nidaplast cores are an ideal support for bonding facings and producing custom sandwich panels.
Our products
Nidaplast 8
Nidaplast 8 is the standard product in the range. It is suitable for hand lay-up or spray-up lamination processes.
Nidaplast 8DB
Nidaplast 8DB has been specifically designed to make the production of shaped parts easier. Its 30 × 30 mm checker-cut pattern on one side of the core allows the creation of curved components.
Nidaplast 8RI
Nidaplast 8RI is an ideal product for the infusion process. Its specially reinforced PP (polypropylene) film withstands resin pressure during processing and prevents the resin from filling the cells.
Nestaplast
These polypropylene panels serve as the core of bonded sandwich panels. Their surface coating (polyester non-woven and plastic film) provides an adhesion support for the applied facing layer.
Nidaplast 8FR
Nidaplast 8FR is an extruded polypropylene honeycomb containing a halogen-free approved material that limits flame propagation (flammability according to UL94 standards: V2 rating).
Nidaplast 8HP
Nidaplast 8HP is a polypropylene honeycomb designed to serve as the core of high-density structural sandwich panels.

Frequently asked questions
What are the differences between Nestaplast and Fitcore honeycomb cores?
Both products are based on an extruded polypropylene honeycomb structure, offering stability and resistance to moisture.
Nestaplast is the standard panel, with a 50 µm film and a 45 g/m² nonwoven surface for reliable adhesion during bonding.
Fitcore features a thicker 200 µm film and a 30 g/m² nonwoven, reducing adhesive consumption while ensuring uniform bonding.
Both are suitable for manual bonding as well as continuous industrial processes.
Which adhesives are compatible with Nidaplast panels?
Nidaplast honeycomb cores can be used with most structural adhesives commonly used in composites:
- Epoxy – high mechanical resistance and excellent adhesion
- Two-component polyurethane – flexible and versatile
- MS polymer, hotmelt or neoprene, depending on thermal constraints and production requirements
The choice depends on the type of facing to be bonded and the mechanical stresses required for the final panel.
Preliminary tests are always recommended to validate material compatibility.
How is adhesive applied to Nidaplast panels?
Adhesive is applied using a manual or automatic roller coater, ensuring a fine and uniform distribution over the nonwoven surface.
This layer provides adhesive grip without penetrating the honeycomb, preserving the lightweight and stiffness of the sandwich panel.
Even pressure must be maintained during bonding to ensure perfect contact between the skins and the core.
Which materials can be bonded to Nidaplast cores?
Nidaplast panels are compatible with a wide range of rigid facings:
aluminium, wood, laminate, natural stone, marble, metal or composite panels.
This versatility enables the design of sandwich structures for construction, transport, marine applications or industrial fit-out.
