The realization of a courtyard or a terrace space in gravel is possible with the use of nidagravel plates. The slabs retain the permeability of the soil. Rainwater then infiltrates naturally into the soil and does not run off on the plot.
The gravel gives an impression of space, it allows the terrace to harmonize with its plant environment. Gardeners and landscape architects regularly use nidagravel because it is less expensive than a bituminous coating and offers a wide choice of gravel colors and grain sizes to suit the aesthetic appearance of the garden.
Multi-colored hollow core slabs for gravel
Already well known in white and black, nidagravel honeycomb slabs for gravel yards or terraces are now available in 3 additional colors: nidagravel gray, nidagavel beige and nidagravel pink.
Nidagravel WHITE:
With the white pebble stabilization plates, choose a crushed gravel of white marble or white quartz. The latter will have a slightly more pronounced shade of white / gray.
White brings clarity to your exterior but it is to be avoided in areas exposed to the north where coatings are more sensitive to greening or moss.
Nidagravel GRAY:
For gray or black stabilizer slabs, opt for a blue / gray marble that will give a contemporary look to your yard.
Nidagravel BEIGE:
The crushed yellow marble gravel will go perfectly with the beige stabilizer plates. It will recall a wall in Burgundy stone, for example.
Nidagravel ROSE:
Pink gravel stabilizers are used to create crushed gravel driveways of red or pink marble, reminiscent of the red bricks of a home.
Installation of a gravel stabilizer suitable for courtyards and terraces
Before buying your gravel, studying the environment of your garden, ask yourself the question of the desired aestheticism: bring unity to your exterior by combining colors of the same shade or decide by bringing different colors?
Note, however, that it is not recommended to use more than 3 different colors in order to preserve a certain harmony.
Finally, maintaining a gravel yard is less restrictive than a lawn. Maintenance is still carried out 2 to 3 times a year to remove weeds that have sown in the gravel and to spread the gravel using a rake.
There are a few steps to follow to ensure proper installation of the product:
1 - Foundation of the terrace or the courtyard in gravel
Start by delimiting the area according to the desired size and prepare the foundations by removing the earth (5 to 15 cm deep depending on the nature of your land). Then cover the base layer with a leveling layer and compact the whole.
2 - Positioning of the borders for the terrace
Position borders that protrude a few centimeters (1.5 to 2 cm above the gravel) to delimit your patio from grass, for example, and to prevent the gravel from dispersing. Nidaplast offers a wide choice of borders.
3- Installation of nidagravel plates
Install the nidagravel gravel stabilization plates, edge to edge and cross-seamed. Nidagravel tiles are simply cut with a grinder to match the shapes of your patio or yard. Give free rein to your imagination to create very aesthetic spaces!
Honeycomb panels are available in 5 colors: you can mix your choice of gravel to create different atmospheres.
4 – Choice of gravel and filling
To allow perfect water infiltration, choose a 6/10 or 8/15 gravel, non-friable and distribute it in the cells with a scraper.
Add 2 cm of gravel on top of the nidagravel and tamp the whole thing to ensure good settlement.
