Lightweight backfill above existing ground

The realization of a landscaped backfill (and Building) serves to develop the space by creating aesthetic and functional volumes without causing the same constraints as a traditional backfill.

The realization of a landscaped backfill (and Building) serves to develop the space by creating aesthetic and functional volumes without causing the same constraints as a traditional backfill. The lightweight backfill can either be positioned above existing soil or buried in soil that it is desired to lighten. This backfill can receive on the surface either vegetation or pedestrian traffic areas or accessible to light vehicles.

The nidaplast RA and / or nidastyrene blocks or panels, easy to transport and to install, will allow:

Preserve landscaped volumes and prevent their settling over time

Reduce thrusts behind retaining walls or foundations

Landscaped embankment at the Jardin des Halles in Paris

In 2013, more than 6,000 m3 of lightweight nidaplast RA backfill was installed to create landscaped volumes at the Jardin des Halles. The honeycomb blocks were able to accommodate vegetation, pedestrian traffic areas or traffic areas for light vehicles on the surface.

Development of green spaces on the roof

In 2016, to furnish the interior garden of Villa Maïa, Lyon's first boutique hotel, the company Louis Benech Paysage chose nidaplast RA to backfill 575 m2 of surface to a height of 1.20 m. To answer this problem, a combination of blocks and nidaplast RA panels was studied. To get as close as possible to the 1.20 m required backfill height, two layers of 520 mm thick blocks were recommended, as well as one layer of 120 mm thick panels.

In fact, extruded polypropylene honeycomb products are available in the form of blocks or panels in different thicknesses (from 40 to 520 mm), thus making it possible to adapt to all site constraints.
